Chores are a great way for your child to feel apart of the family. To the right are some ideas for different age levels to start incorporating into their lives. We have noticed when we ask them to complete jobs here at school, they are eager to help. See what you think and enjoy!
September 2016: All classrooms will have a safe zone. We will be teaching tools for all students to get their body and mind ready to learn. To the left is the image that will be in all classrooms. Safe Zone is a place somewhere in your home/school that would have this image, something to squeeze such as stuff animal, draw, write, or other materials that would help calm down. Let me know if you need help with ideas.
We will be working school wide on whole body listening and helping each other with self control/KYHFOOTY (keep your hands feet other objects to yourself). If you are interested, we have the book at school or you can purchase it called Whole body Listening Larry at Home! The students love to make connections and this is how you could do this at home for them.

If your child is giving up and needs a little inspiration, click on the picture to the left. Bruno Mars and the Sesame Street characters may give them a little pick me up they need.
If your child is struggling with falling asleep at night, click on the link to the right. It is yoga at night for little ones. It is about 7 minutes long. Let me know what you think.
The Green Bay Cellcom Luv 2 5K Run was a complete success... Below are some of the runners that I could find amongst the 4,500 walkers and runners. We are so proud of each and everyone. A special thank you to staff who helped made this possible... Mrs. Sprangers, Mrs. Voight, Mrs. VandeHei, Mrs. Zarante, Mrs. LaRonge, Ms. Liethen, Mrs. Berg, Mrs Tegen, Mr. Kubicki, Mrs. Kubicki and of course to Mrs. Dassler for allowing us to train during the day. Parents and students and former Howard Students enjoyed the morning!!!!
We are Fiercly United... Orange Flower Power. We were priveleged to have a few orange flowers that we could give away during our training. We wore them proudly or we gave them away to our encouragers and our supporters. We thank you! |
Just in case your child needs some reminder of school bus expectations... this is a short video to go over so he/she is safe and others riding are too.
4th graders have a "I can" schoology account. It is meant for all 4th graders to be able to help each other solve problems after school hours. We spent time solving problems by listening to each other with our words and listening with our eyes to mirror a lego built. Totally fun way to introduce the schoology account.
Books to Read that may be helpful...
1. "Uncle Willy's Tickles: A Child's Right to say NO"... this is a good book to read with a child who is struggling with how to tell someone they do not like them tickling them. Nice book to read...

During the month of September, we will be going over the "swimsuit/underwear" rule. The older student viewed the clip of Kiko and the hand. Click on it to see it. Any questions please call me at 662-9760.
Here is a clip that the 3rd and 4th graders watched that gave them at least 8 ideas of how to deal with stress!! It would help children and adults with some ideas of getting starting of how to manage stress. Click on it and you will be able to view it.
While your child is at Howard Elementary, we will be using many different ideas from the website Conscious Discipline. Click on "Shubert is a Star to the left and it will link you as a parent to many ideas that you could utilize to help you with your child. Enjoy!
